Steal a Githyanki Egg is a quest found during Travel through the Mountain Pass. Head northeast and then southeast of the Trielta Crags Waypoint to find Lady Esther. She appears as a vendor on the map selling equipment.
Complete the quest without the egg
You can use a Persuasion check to get payment upfront, getting the rewards without completing the quest.

Alternatively, if you procured an Owlbear Egg, you can try to convince Esther that it’s a real githyanki egg. Using a Nature, Deception, or Persuasion check should work. You can pick up an Owlbear Egg during Find the Githyanki Creche, after meeting Bryanna and Andrick. Telling her that it’s an owlbear egg without a check gets an automatic refusal.

Getting the githyanki egg
If you are going to get an actual githyanki egg, head to the Creche Y’llek in the northeast of the Mountain Pass. Head to the bottom level of the Monastery to reach the Creche. Check Find the Githyanki Creche for more details.
Head to the northwest of the Creche to find the Hatchery. The liquid around the room is acid and there are traps everywhere. You must reach Varsh Ko’kuu in the northwest part of the room. They are standing on a rock and you must climb your way there. Manually wade through the acid and climb up if you can take the damage.
For a less damaging path, head west of the hatchery entrance and jump on the rocks. Jump up towards the upper rock wall and you should be able to leap to an area that leads to Ko’kuu. Watch out for any traps; have someone like Astarion move forward to reveal them. Save before speaking to Ko’kuu.
Ko’kuu won’t give up the egg easily. If you tell him that you will steal it, you get into a fight. It’s not easy since Ko’kuu will use Thunderwave and push you off, throwing you in the acid. Speak to him twice and you can make an Insight save to learn about his weariness. If you are lucky, it triggers the first time but the second is your last chance.
This allows you to use checks to get the egg peacefully. If you fail any of the checks at this point, you must take the egg by force.
The first chance is a Persuasion check, which opens up a second Persuasion check if it is successful.

If you pass the checks, answer that you will raise it to get the egg or that you will find another creche. Both are satisfactory answers and give you Shadowheart and Karlach’s approval. Ko’kuu also gives you Varsh Ko’kuu’s Boosts, which prevent any acid damage and lets you get the egg safely.
Forgoing the first Persuasion check and asking one of the two questions leads to a second round of checks: Persuasion, Deception, or Intimidation. Doing the Persuasion check here is harder, and it’s better to use Deception or Intimidation if going this route.

The Persuasion option will require answering questions about its safety but gives you the Boots to avoid acid damage. Choosing Deception or Intimidation doesn’t give you the boots but prevents combat. Failing Deception or Intimidation forces you to fight Ko’kuu.
Regardless of how you resolve the situation, head down into the acid pool and pick up the egg. Choose the option to put it into your backpack. The egg has a weight of 20; make sure it doesn’t encumber you.
Give the githyanki egg to Esther and you get your gold, completing the quest.
