Activision this week (officially) announces Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, the first true sequel to the original 3D action platforming game trilogy originally created by Naughty Dog. Now in the hands of developer Toys for Bob, Crash 4 will bring back series protagonist Crash and his sister Coco in an all-new adventure that takes place after the events of Crash Bandicoot: Warped.
Neo Cortex, Dr. Nepharious Tropy and Uka Uka have succeeded in escaping from their decades-long confinement on a distant planet, with a new goal of taking over the multiverse. Only mutant marsupials Crash and Coco can stop them, and this time they'll be able to manipulate space, time and gravity through the power of the four Quantum Masks they will uncover throughout the game.
Players will also be able to switch between "Modern" and "Retro" gameplay modes, allowing them to customize series-staple gameplay mechanics like wall running, rope swinging and rail grinding.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is currently scheduled for an October 2, 2020 release across the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.
All joking aside though, it (overall) looked like more of the same to me, with the exception of the antigravity and wall running. But I did notice something that caught my attention; at the 45 second mark in the video, it looked like Cortex was being controlled by the player...
Regardless, I'm not particularly interested in this as of now, particularly after the N. Sane Trilogy's problems with the faulty collision engine... it's nice to see Crash getting back on the road in terms of new storylines, though.
Though, there's a chance the game won't even get a PC port, from what I heard.
