Bethesda confirms that Starfield development has gone gold this week, meaning the game's code has been finalized for launch. That should well and truly quell any remaining fears over a potential last-minute delay!
In addition to being sent off for mass production on physical media, Starfield will of course be ready for digital release. Bethesda reveals that Starfield will be available for preload on Xbox Series X|S consoles starting tomorrow, August 17, while Windows PC users can preload the game via Steam on August 30.
Starfield launches across Xbox and PC platforms this September 6, and represents the first major new IP from Bethesda in over 25 years. The game promises a literal universe (featuring over 1.000 planets) to explore, with around 40 hours of content for the main story campaign alone. Players who pre-order the Premium and Constellation Editions will be eligible for early access to Starfield five days ahead of launch.
Chad - Weird issue on the site, where if you search Starfield and click on the product, it tries to link to the Walkthrough page (which doesn't exist, because there are no walkthroughs), instead of the main product page. I don't recall that being an issue before, and it's not something that happened on a couple other products when I tested their links. Odd.
