Welcome to our The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie (English Release) walkthrough guide. In this guide you can expect a full walkthrough of each of the game's chapters, boss strategies, all sidequests, all collectables, all enemy info, character profiles, etc.
Despite most of us RPG afficionados know the "Trails of" series, the series itself is a sub-series of the much larger "Legend of Heroes", which started in Japan WAY back in 1989. Yeah, this is almost as old as the OG Final Fantasy game, and with their much more "recent" Trails of series, they started gathering a huge fan base that I'm happy to call myself part of it.
Trails into Reverie (originally known to many for a long time as "Hajimari no Kiseki") is the culmination of the story that takes place in Erebonia and Crossbell, the end of 6 amazing games. The game itself is very different from every other game before this. Given that we see events that take place in both Erebonia and Crossbell (and everywhere in between), we have different groups and different routes. We start with Lloyd's and the SSS's group. Their route starts out in Crossbell. Then we have Rean's group, whose route starts in Erebonia. Lastly we have a third route, with some mysterious characters that make an introduction here in this game.
I myself played a lot of the japanese version of the game with the fan translation (huge shoutout to the translation team!), but it was mostly incomplete so I'm finally able to play this fully translated. Given that I have some experience with the JP version of the game, trust me when I say I'll bring you the best, most concise info to make your stay here a pleasant one!
So join me as we follow Rean and Class VII, Lloyd and the SSS, and the mysterious third group, as we unravel the mysteries of this game, and hopefully see what Ouroboros is all about!
Yours,
~ vinheim

I, too, played the JP version of the game with the translation spreadsheet. But I didn't touch the extra post-game stuff to save it for this release. I also look forward to talking to all the NPCs I didn't get to talk to before.
Is this guide without spoilers? Is it made based on the Japanese version and should I expect problems because of this? Is the guide finished?
Thanks!
As for spoilers, I keep the guide as spoiler free as I can, hiding bosses names from the initial list so they can surprise you when you reach them. Stuff like that. However, you can expect some spoilers from Cold Steel and From Zero/To Azure since you should have played those games in order to fully understand.
However, if you haven't and plan on going back, I don't think anything I wrote is that bad of a spoiler. Personally I haven't played the Sky trilogy and by now a lot has been spoiled, but I'm sure playing through them will still have an impact on me.
Hope this clarifies things somewhat
And yes, this is a 100% guide. Unlike the previous games, this one doesn't really have sidequests, or the requests you would normally get through the terminal to get AP (or whatever they were called in previous games). Instead they implemented other ways to get them that it's a bit more "random" so progression will vary vastly from playthrough to playthrough
Thanks for putting this together so quickly! I went looking for a guide a week ago in preparation for launch and couldn't find one, so I was thinking the game would have to take the back burner for a little until a guide was put together, but now this is here.
Amazing guide progress, thank you for all of the hard work!
The main portion of the guide is almost done too so you'll most likely be able to go through the game all the way by the time you get it and reach where I am currently!
That game just does. Not. END.
Quick question, a friend of mine who is a huge lore/story nerd for these games gave me a no-spoilers list of the “ideal” story order to do the routes in, since you can jump between them, instead of finishing them one by one. Will that mess up following your guide at all, or should it be fine?
However, there are points when this is not the case. For example:
- You HAVE to start with Lloyd's Act I, then halfway you can go to Rean's Act I or finish Lloyd's. C's Act I can only be started after finishing both.
- During Act II, all 3 routes make you stop at a certain point and force you to start/continue another route until a certain point. All of this is noted in the guide as well.
- Last example, Act III can only be started with C's route, but later you can change to whichever.
Hope this helps! And drop a comment whenever you or anyone gets stuck. I'll do my best to reply!
That being said, we never know how long it'll take NISA to send out a patch. The game has a ton of typos as well, but nothing game breaking.
Game had a battle field where you had to get to floor... 50, I think? Maybe 100? To get the true ending. However, there was a chance on each floor for a 'Slumbering Boss' to appear, and if it did, it seized up the game.
The only real bad things here are typos like "Weapon +3" appears as "Weapon _3" (literally fat fingered). The REAL bad one was when fishing. All the items you got have/had an extra 0. For example: if you fish out something and it gives you Water Sepith +24, the game marks it as +240, or U-Material +5, the game marks it as +50.
So you can use, say, TheDarkn1ght's CS3 gamefaqs builds as a base.
I still have yet to start the game, finishing NG+ FF16 lmao
PC usually gets patches early for any game because they don't have to deal with Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft's way of doing things.
PS5 fixed link attacks and a mini game thing. PS5 doesn't have rainbow trout bug.
Thanks and can't wait to start using the guide!! You do great work!
Also note that nothing from the post game is needed for the platinum either IIRC
Thank Zoelius. HE'S the man who wrote all cold steel and Azure
Well, it's a game that's just released, with very few guides out there. I have no idea about the state of this guide, if perhaps some things aren't entirely finished. I was mosty just looking for confirmation if anyone had made platinum using it. No need to be rude about it.
Just as a heads up, I recommend keeping several save files, and make sure you're very thorough during C's and Rean's Act II. A lot of people (including myself) that miss something is from that act.
Other than that, enjoy the game and guide!
Door 1: Kurt as a beat stick, Lloyd evasion tank. Focus Hollow Shirley first. Make liberal use of Lloyd's defense BO.
Door 2: Super easy due to Altina/Tio's BOs and also Lapis'. Cast arts with your 3 casters. Have Lapis hack at it.
Like, you can step in the door. See what you're gonna face, scan it. See what they're weak to. Escape, prepare accordingly. They're not overly difficult.
While I understand you may be excited to share about the game, a lot of screenshots and personal comments that have been inserted into this walkthrough come off as excessive and unnecessary. Not to mention that these can unfortunately spoil people, seeing as people tend to read walkthroughs in advance to see what they might have to prepare for, not as they are playing the same scene.
For example, in Rean's Act II, your screenshot of Elise spoil the story for people who have yet to get there as they have just opened the page. Scrolling down to check what one needs to acquire also easily leads to running into spoilers of other character's appearances, the most egregious one being showing Alfin a little over halfway of the page.
While I can see that you try to block out spoilers by putting the boss' names behind a hover over filter, mentioning the name of the boss right in the strategy section defeats the purpose and potentially comes off as lazy or that you do not care about not spoiling readers.
In the end, this is just a suggestion. Feel free to write a walkthrough however you'd like.
Other than these minor issues I had I think it's a good guide and I like to thank you for having it complete so early.
If anything, hiding the character names and their images would improve this experience a lot for me. Right now, I'm literally going through two guides to help alleviate this problem for me. Using your guide for items with the images turned off while using another guide for general flow. I understand being excited, we are too, but there's too much spoilers layered throughout the whole guide that ruins the surprise of each moment
Just to add something else, I made an account just to make this comment. I hope you consider it!
